Railway - Blonay-Chamby Museum

Description
-
Do you like trains ? Do you like heritage sites ? At Blonay-Chamby you get to enjoy both. Take a journey into the past with a steam or electric engine on the 3 kilometres long railway line. It winds through a tunnel and across a viaduct on the scenic mountain side with viewpoints high above Montreux and Vevey - you’ll enjoy a wonderful panorama over Lake Geneva and beyond. The trains were all built between 1875 and 1932. This is the oldest railway museum in Switzerland and one of the biggest narrow gauge railway collections in Europe.
The Blonay-Chamby Railway Museum is a living museum run entirely by volunteers. Trains run on Saturdays and Sundays, from May till October. Vintage steam engines or old electric locomotives pull carriages along the short steep 3 km line between Blonay and Chamby in a spectacular setting. At the Chaulin-Chamby depot, the museum shows visitors what is probably the best and the most representative collection of metric-gauge railway equipment in Europe.
