Defending human dignity : Human dignity implies respect for the life and integrity of individuals. Long protected by texts from all cultures, respect for human dignity calls for constant vigilance: new challenges are continually arising.
Restoring Family Links : Human beings are social beings who are defined by their links with others. When those links are broken, they lose part of their identity and their bearings.
Giving and receiving news and finding one’s loved ones again are elements of stability that are even more essential during crisis situations.
Reducing natural risks : Humanity has progressed by refusing to accept the inevitability of the phenomena that endanger it. In the face of natural disasters and epidemics, communities take action to prevent the worst, to save lives and to preserve resources.
